==學經歷==<br />
國立政治大學政治學系畢業、美國史丹佛大學大眾傳播學院碩士。<br />
1979-1988年，於自立晚報擔任記者。後成為自立晚報總編輯、自立報系副社長兼自立晚報總編輯。<br />
1995-1996年，於民間全民電視公司（民視）擔任籌備處新聞部經理。<br />
1996-1997年，擔任澳洲《自立快報》社長。<br />
1998年，擔任中華民國內政部參事。<br />
1998-2004年，任職公共電視文化事業基金會。陸續擔任執行副總經理、總經理。<br />
2004-2008年，任職行政院客家委員會。陸續擔任副主任委員、代理主任委員、主任委員。<br />
2008-2014年，擔任高雄市政府副市長。<br />
2015年，擔任高雄市政府顧問。<br />
2016-2020年，擔任客家委員會（第9任）主任委員。<br />
2020年起，上任文化部部長（第4任）。<br />

==文化政策專家==<br />
於客委會任職期間，推廣客家文化不遺餘力，立推「浪漫台三線」藝術季等客家文藝復興運動、積極推動客家大劇、鼓勵地方創生等。在文化保存與永續活化方面有豐富的施政經驗。任職高雄市副市長期間，也參與駁二特區等藝文建設。他表示：「我還是定義自己是文化人，而不僅是政府官員。」這也體現在他的施政風格上。他強調文化保存中的橫向比較與連結，透過外部的視野與在地的居民共同創作，為當地注入新的文化交流與元素。<br />

=客語保存=<br />
他任內創立了「客語認證」，試圖消解過去政府時代曾強調文化的一元性，並參與為客家族群建立客語書寫的系統。對於客語傳承，李永得也有自己的堅持，包含不論是出席客委會記者會或是活動都堅持以客語發言，在立法業務報告時也是如此，面對有政治人物提要母語回家學，李永得也會積極辯駁。<br />

=政大求學經歷=<br />
面對課業，他笑稱自己不算認真，但是「西洋政治思想史」這門課讓他印象深刻，收穫的思想觀念更是讓李永得面對事情的態度產生轉變。「一堂課只要學到一個觀念就夠了」，李永得分析事情的「簡單哲學」就是他在西洋政治思想史所學的延伸。<br />
